Peter Thorley
Pyrotex met Peter back in 2013 at Southport Musical Firework Competition. From the outset we instantly clicked, realising that we had a lot in common within the firework trade.
Over the years Peter and Pyrotex became a great friend and asset to the company. He started with own import company in 2015 (Pro Fusion) bringing some of the best professional fireworks the UK had ever seen. Pyrotex brought a lot of products off his company and supported him for many years.
Peter was part of Pyrotex Fireworx International Team, travelling around the globe, helping with supplying, and transportation of fireworks for our competitions.
Sadly, Peter passed away in February 2019. He will always be remembered as one of the greats in the Pyro industry. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour and comradery and honesty.
Peter will be missed but remembered by all at Pyrotex.
Q&A With Peter
How did you get into fireworks?
As most firework people, I got into them from an early age doing small displays in my back garden as a child which grew into a passion to then owning my own fireworks business.
Do you have a day job outside of fireworks? If so what is your job?
I run my own fireworks business importing fireworks from China to the UK so its pretty much fireworks all day every day.
What is the strangest thing you have seen or had to do on a display?
The strangest thing on a display was in Danang 2017 with Pyrotex, we were de-rigging the show and we ended up drafting the local army lads in to help ! They were great lads and hard workers too.
What is your favourite firework experience up to date?
Ive had many but my favourite experience has got to be Danang 2017 with Pyrotex. It was brilliant, just everything about it, the food, the people, the crew, the fireworks and the nightlife was fantastic.
How would you describe working for Pyrotex?
Hard work at times but as always, everyone pulls together and gets the job done.
What are your key strengths when out on site?
My key strengths on site are deffinately the single shot pods, I may take longer than others to do them but they are always perfect !
